Construction Recycling for City of Orlando Crime Scene Facility

The City of Orlando Police Department is currently undergoing a large scale renovation. The precinct is completely overhauling the current 80,000 square-foot Crime Scene Facility. After renovation, the new facility will house the department’s crime scene, training and property and evidence programs. The project broke ground in spring of 2015 and is predicted to be completed in 2016.

Located at the Orlando Executive Airport, the $10 million project is being designed and constructed by H.J. High Construction. This local contracting company has been building in central Florida since 1936, specializing in corporate, industrial, educational, religious and sustainable green buildings. The Crime Scene Facility is a LEED compliant project, meaning both the facility’s design and construction process must adhere to strict regulations.

Sunshine Recycling of Orlando is certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, specializing in construction recycling. We properly collect and haul construction debris to local recycling facilities, preventing waste from ending up in landfills. All recycled material is carefully tracked and documented to meet strict LEED certification requirements. On average, Sunshine is able to recycle 98% of construction debris. For the City of Orlando Police Department Crime Scene Facility, we are providing small four-yard dumpsters for office waste, as well as 20- and 30-yard roll-off dumpsters for construction and renovation refuse. Participating in green building initiatives allows us to help conserve energy, save money and promote clean, renewable energy in the community.

Over the years the city of Orlando has become one of the most environmentally-friendly communities in the nation. Launched in 2007, Green Works Orlando has completed 10 LEED certified municipal construction and renovation projects with more in the works, including the Police Department Crime Scene Facility. More than one million dollars in annual energy savings have been achieved so far. We take pride in being a part of this movement, doing our part by providing environmentally friendly waste management solutions for local residential and commercial clients.
